In 2007, I moved to Norton Shores, MI, near Muskegon. Here’s a photocomic I made in 2008 for New Year’s greetings, telling people about my new environs. I bring this up because the buzz around the recent film The Brutalist (which I haven’t seen yet) made me think of that church I attended. The local jokers called it “Our Lady of Concrete”. The weirdness of the building notwithstanding, I made some good friends there.
Anyway, if you’re interested in Brutalist architecture, you might want to take a look at St. Francis de Sales Church in Norton Shores, and enjoy the nearby beaches while you’re at it.
