Welcome to“Unclench”, a new section I’ve added to Logos & Liberty. In Logos & Liberty I have tried to present reasoned analysis backed up by relevant research, and I have prioritized clarity over artistry. “Unclench” is an outlet for other kinds of work, maybe more creative and less analytical, maybe more personal, maybe more experimental. There will definitely be cartoons; I don’t know yet what else will appear here. This section is also a kind of mental safety valve for me in these grim times.
I’ve made this a section within Logos & Liberty rather than starting another newsletter so that paying subscribers get access to both with their subscription. If I correctly understand how Substack sections work, separate newsletters require separate subscriptions, but sections within a single newsletter can all be included in one subscription. Currently, none of my material is paywalled, so it doesn’t make much difference, but that may change in the future.
I’ve made a new section rather than just posting everything on the main page because the material I post in “Unclench” will be quite different from the usual material I post in Logos & Liberty, and some subscribers may not be interested in it. For now, email subscribers to Logos & Liberty will also get “Unclench” posts, but subscribers can opt out of receiving this new section if they don’t want cartoon frogs or other weirdness in their inbox.
Frogs are far from uncool and we need their perspectives. Honey Badgers, Octopuses, and Turtles also have something to say (on occasion) too. So do (I’m told) Koala Bears?

I think that my late grandfather would've liked this. I share SOME measure of his creativity.
I BRAKE FOR FUNNY FROGS. 🐸
